Reverence

After dealing with my rowdy primary class I decided it was time to remind my own kids about the importance of respect and reverence at church. I printed off the reverence girl at the bottom and the kids took turns picking a body part and then we showed how that part would act reverently and how it would act irreverently (such as arms touching other kids or arms folded). I printed the mouse about 1 x 1 inch and gave one to them while I read them the poem below. You can always tell the kids that learn a lot about reverence at home and the kids that somehow miss that lesson when you teach primary. Of course there are exceptions to this. I just think respect and reverence should be reiterated more than it is.

If a mouse would ride to churchIn your pocket on this day,What might he tell his familyThat he heard you do or say?Would he tell them you were reverent,And you listened to your teacher?Or would he say he’d never seenSuch a noisy creature?Would he tell them how he loved the songsYou sang so sweet and clear?Or would he groan from all the talkingThat entered in his ear?Could he take a little snoozeAs you walked nice and tall?Or would he scream with panicAs you galloped down the hall?Would the little mouse get seasickFrom the tipping of your chair?Or would he feel safe and cozyAs you quietly sat there?Would the chapel be a reverent place? The sacrament the same? Now tell me, would the little mouseBe really glad he came?If a mouse would ride to churchIn your pocket on this day,What might he tell his familyThat he heard you do or say?

FHE March 26th

We had such a good time with the kids last night. We read a story from our kids Bible that I let Ava choose and then we sang some fun songs that the kids got a kick out of with the actions like "London Bridges, Farmer in the Dell, and Hokey Pokey". The kids love doing these simple things as a family. They had so much fun. They have been begging me this morning to play Farmer in the Dell again. Ryan hadn't even heard of that and thought it was cute.

Love At Home

Yes another LDS Splash lesson. They seem to have a lot geared to younger kids. If you haven't gone there you should. You can find the actual lesson here.

We layed the hearts on the floor and the kids took turns throwing a small rock onto a heart of their choice. If it was something that promoted love at home then the heart was placed on the paper. If it did not promote love at home then it was thrown into the trash pile. The picture is the end product. The hearts are supposed to make flower petals. I had everyone sign there name (including Breck i,e the scribbles) saying that they would try to have love at home this week.
